Opioid Addiction

Dr. Margaret Jarvis from the Geisinger Marworth Treatment Center has said, "Pennsylvania is in the midst of a full-fledged epidemic. The prescription opioid and heroin crisis is the most significant public health crisis facing our state today." She is correct, and we must do more to prevent unnecessary deaths across Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

Opioid and heroin overdoses kill more Pennsylvanians than car accidents. This is unacceptable.

We must also educate the general public on what addiction truly is and how we can treat those with the disease.

The government of Pennsylvania has identified a few stop-gap measures that may help gauge this epidemic in the meantime, but we must and can do better. Let's do a better job and save lives.
