Agriculture is one of Pennsylvania's leading industries and here in Northampton County there are dozens of farms and open spaces we must protect in the future. We can work hard to save rural vistas and natural habitats. By preserving our farmlands we can grow a local food economy, preserve water and air quality, mitigate increases in traffic congestion, and control property taxes.

Large forests, parks and historic sites are the foundation of our rural communities, which we must further protect. As the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission has said, the need for open space planning increases as the communities of the Lehigh Valley continue to grow.

I look forward to working with state and local leaders to ensure the protections of our treasured farmland and open spaces well into the future.
